Research Analyst - eCommerceat Mintel


Mintel is in search of an experienced consumer research and market analyst with ecommerce expertise to join the Reports team. In this role, you will use your industry knowledge and critical thinking skills to write insightful syndicated research reports on the online and digital retail space.

You will have in-depth knowledge of consumer and shopper behavior, retail trends, and disruptions impacting the ecommerce industry.

What You Will Do:

  • Create insightful reports that combine consumer data with secondary research on retail/ecommerce trends and innovations

  • Translate data (consumer, market, manufacturer) to actionable insights and forward-looking analyses

  • Identify and evaluate industry trends in the context of economic, consumer, and social trends

  • Develop quantitative consumer surveys and qualitative exercises (eg discussion panels) to meet research objectives

  • Most of the day-to-day work will involve business writing as the Analyst is responsible for the full report from defining the report scope, identifying key issues, designing consumer research, conducting trade interviews, analyzing data through to producing the final report

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of the retail industry, with a focus on online retail, include shopper behavior and retailer trends

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant research, marketing, shopper or consumer insights, branding or consulting role dedicated to retail/ecommerce

  • Exceptional writing ability

  • Ability to explain complicated concepts in a clear, concise way

  • A talent for seeing the patterns behind data, and understanding what these patterns mean from a business standpoint

  • Strong consumer research knowledge – designing consumer research studies to address key issues and translating the findings into actionable insights

  • Experience working with syndicated sales data, such as IRI or Nielsen

  • Experience working with syndicated consumer research such as Simmons National Consumer Survey or MRI

  • Ability to analyze multiple data sets and write bold, concise, insightful, forward-looking analysis

  • Ability to multi-task and handle the details while keeping an eye on the big picture
