Mintel has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic London Head Office Accounts Department.  This permanent position is a high profile role in the EMEA team reporting directly to Group Financial Accountant and is well suited to an individual that is looking to play a lead role in the UK interim and annual reporting process, covering budgeting, review and production of management and statutory accounts.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the AP and AR teams with processes and queries on a daily basis

  • Review weekly payments and supplier statement reconciliations

  • Perform checks on invoices to ensure accuracy of coding, authorisation as well as reliable and timely submission of VAT returns and EC sales list

  • Assist in monthly payroll postings including analysis of headcount

  • Manage month-end activities including the close liaison with AP and AR teams for the posting of journals, identification of accruals and prepayments and cost assurance activities to ensure that results are complete and accurate

  • Ownership for the EMEA monthly management accounts including first review and commentary analysis to the Group Financial Accountant

  • Control budget expenditure in the EMEA region including headcount and additional spend applications

  • Variance analysis of Actual to Budget - discussions with Heads of Department on a monthly basis on spending.  Liaise with APAC and Americas for budget transfers

  • Providing guidance on the Group Chart of Accounts to the UK and Regional offices

  • Ensure proper and accurate financial reporting are in compliance with statutory legislations and procedures

  • Play a key part in the annual EMEA and consolidated budget process

  • Continually identify potential areas for process and systems improvements

  • Assist with year-end audit schedules and queries

  • Provide assistance where necessary throughout the accounts department and participate in any ad-hoc projects as and when required.

To be considered for the role, candidate requirements:

  • Qualified accountant i.e. ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of which 2 years post qualification ideally in industry

  • Well rounded technical skills in accounting (FRS 102), costing and financial planning ideally in a  multicurrency group environment

  • Highly numerate self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Have advance written and oral communication skills, proven ability to present complex data in a simplified and meaningful manner

  • Highly proficient with advanced Excel skills a must

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Concur and COGNOS TM1 a bonus
